Shan Hai Jing [1], according to Wikipedia, “is a Chinese classic text that is at least 2,200 years old. It is largely a fabled geographical and cultural account of pre-Qin China as well as a collection of mythology.” It is also an important precedent of narrative by image. During the dinosaur extinction and and the rise of human civilization, an era in which old and new phase caused such a graphic narrative.

Shan Hai Jing, explores the power of magic and myth, and promoted the development of human civilization. It represents the ancient Chinese belief of the mountains and nature, which also records the symbols of the ancient myths, opened the human imagination and creativity.

The Yellow River originates from the ancient gods’ image. The Mississippi runs through two cities of industrial civilization. Animation and visual image narrative in Classic of the Mountains and Seas will re-constitute a collision of East and West. With rotating projector positions, mechanical movement, and visual integration in the outdoor space installation creates a contemporary visual chapter of this classic text.
