The art of the Minnesota traffic jam is celebrated in this world premiere of Car Horn Fanfare by St. Paul composer and environmental sound artist Philip Blackburn. Scored for an octet of ArtCars, the work — by no means limited to use of just the horns — explores the harmonious drive-time interactions for which Minnesota is legendary.
Virtuoso honkers, squirters, and flashers will play on the finest cork-and-quirky vehicles parked by the river, and will serenade pedestrians serving as a prelude to the lighting of the bridge and sculpture.
